Urban agriculture is one of the most important training done at Mahereza because it is essential for the upkeep of good nutrition. The parents are trained in farming in urban areas where there is less and less arable land.
Read MoreThe daily meal of spirulina at Mahereza is an essential activity at the center because this is what directly ensures the intake of nutritional food. The spirulina is mixed with fruit juice or yogurt or flour (Koba Tsaramaso or Koba Aina). At first, the children find it difficult to consume it because of the taste which is not really as pleasant as its benefits, but with time they manage to take it well.
