It all started when...

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

For Christine, her favorite immersion trip was when she traveled to Peru for a medical mission in the city of Cuzco. She felt extremely humbled and welcomed by the communities she visited. The mission consisted of bringing supplies for the local peoples as well as an orphanage. In addition, she volunteered with American and Spanish doctors at a medical clinic that treated those who were not fortunate enough to receive immediate medical treatment. It was through this experience as well as many other immersion trips that she felt a longing for her own project. For Patricia, she always felt the urge to discover other cultures and civilizations as well. From her travels, she saw the conditions that people from third world countries live in such as the lack of basic necessities we all take for granted and felt dispirited. In 2008, Patricia and her daughter, Charlotte, traveled to Northern India and brought 400 pounds of books and art supplies to start a library for a rural school in Nepal. Later, Patricia brought 1000 books, computers, and art supplies to the Cultural Center that Charlotte had already started in a coastal village in Madagascar.

Following this, Christine heard of the wonderful work Charlotte was doing at the Cultural Center and admired the trust and commitment Charlotte preached about and decided that she wanted to do more. Shortly after, Christine, Patricia, and Charlotte founded the Mahereza Nutrition and Health Center in Madagascar. The Center and everything it stands for is of integrity and selflessness. We pride ourselves in being transparent and promise that all the proceeds we receive go straight to the foundation. We realize that this cause is bigger than ourselves and that the families in Madagascar deserve to have the best healthcare and education that we can provide. The environment and lack of basic healthcare needs that the Malagasy children and families are living in are heartbreaking and that's why we, as a foundation, want to help alleviate some of the burden and create a sustainable future for these families by implementing nutritional supplements and educating the mothers.
